Window pop-out

New from Marvin, Skycove is a fully constructed, pre-engineered glass pop-out structure that expands the interior space while creating a window seat-like space to sit and gather. With sightlines under 3”, Skycove helps create a seamless connection to the outdoors while its top glass provides a view of the sky. It includes an integrated bench with 16 to 20 feet of usable space, a high-density fiberglass exterior, an aluminum interior for a clean aesthetic, a built-in recess for optional shade solutions, dual- or triple-pane glass, and low-E2 glass standard. Skycove arrives at the job site fully assembled. Learn more >

insulation board lining building

XPS insulation board

In response to new environmental regulations in Canada and several U.S. states to address high global warming potential (GWP) hydrofluorocarbon blowing agents (HFCs), Foamular NGX extruded polystyrene insulation boards from Owens Corning contain a proprietary blowing agent that eliminates HFC 134a. Foamular NGX offers a 90% reduction in blowing agent GWP compared to the legacy product, and it is optimized for a more than 80% reduction in embodied carbon, the company says. The product is resistant to moisture and retains its R-value even after prolonged exposure to moisture and freeze/thaw cycling. It is available in compressive strengths up to 100 psi. Learn more >

Warm-edge spacers

Kawneer now offers warm-edge spacers for its curtain wall, window wall, and GLASSvent windows. The warm-edge spacers offer up to 15% better thermal performance (U-factor) compared to aluminum spacers and improve condensation resistance with marginal or no cost increase. For example, the company’s 2500 UT Unitwall System shows an improvement in system overall U-factor of 12% by changing out the aluminum spacer to a warm-edge spacer. Learn more >

pile of Rockwool insulation

Stone wool insulation board

Cavityrock semi-rigid stone wool insulation board from Rockwool is designed for exterior cavity wall and rain screen applications. According to the company, Cavityrock is compatible with numerous cladding attachment systems and has noncombustible characteristics, so it won’t develop toxic smoke or promote flame spread even when directly exposed to fire; it is approved for use in many NFPA 285-compliant designs. The insulation board is moisture resistant, so it will maintain its insulating value over the long term. It comes in mono-density insulation in thicknesses up to 2” or dual-density in thicknesses of 2.5” to 6”. A black mat facer finish option is available for open-joint cladding systems. Learn more >

Coated glass

Guardian Glass worked with architects to develop SunGuard SNE 50/25 HT high-performance, low-E glass, delivering a combination of high performance, a subtle blue-gray color, and a mid-reflective aesthetic. The glass, designed for the #2 and #3 surface of a standard insulating glass unit, has visible light transmission of 48% and an SHGC of 0.25. It can be used for several Guardian Glass substrates, including UltraClear low-iron glass, in 6-, 8-, and 10-mm thicknesses. Learn more >

Bathroom hardware

Scranton Product and Trimco now offer Healthy Hardware, hardware for restroom partitions made from CuVerro bactericidal copper alloys. When cleaned regularly, the copper alloys can kill 99.9% of infectious bacteria such as e-coli, MRSA, and Staph. Because it’s a solid copper-based alloy and not a coating, it will not wear off. The hardware looks like stainless steel to match other hardware products. It is available in door pulls, hospital latches, push plates, exit device push pads, mortise lock levers and trim, and more.
